  • Our dedication is to carry on the Bujinkan Arts into the future. We invite you to become a part of that journey first as an official Member of the Bujinkan and then we hope that you enroll in a dojo, Online or distant learning program like the other thousands of students worldwide.

    You are welcome to become a member and not train with us. Please know that obtaining a Bujinkan Membership with IBDA (International Bujinkan Dojo Association) is Official Bujinkan Membership and fully approved by now retired Soke Hatsumi.

    You can get a membership with us and train anywhere, with anyone in the Bujinkan. Many years before his fully retiring Soke Hatsumi ended the Japan Hombu Dojo itself issuing Memberships and transferred the responsibility and authority of Bujinkan Memberships over to the Senior DaiShihan that want to take over this responsibility. A few senior students like Doshi Richard Van Donk (IBDA director) accepted his request. Some choose only to offer for their dojo we offer it worldwide thru IBDA.

  • Since 1986 IBDA and Doshi Richard Van Donk we have been serving the Bujinkan Community.... nearly 40 years later we are still growing.

  • Bujinkan teachers or students of any affiliation can get Bujinkan Membership with us. We support the Bujinkan in every way that we can.
  • Doshi Richard Van Donk has gone to Japan near 50 times to train with Soke Hatsumi and other shihan teachers. He has received most every rank or special award given by Soke.

AN IBDA PATCH
An oval shoulder patch for your uniform. International Bujinkan Dojo AssociationTM patch – Beautiful Gold metallic IBDA letters over a white globe with red Bujin circle containing the Black Bujinkan Kanji. This patch is worn on the left shoulder of your uniform to signify your worldwide IBDA BUJINKAN membership.

#4 RANK TESTING

*To test for rank with us you must be an enrolled student of an IBDA Dojo or enrolled in an IBDA Distance Leaning Ninjutsu Course and have a current IBDA Membership.

We offer our IBDA students rank certification kyu testing in several forms, In-Person at the dojo, private sessions, seminars, nearby IBDA dojo, by Virtual private sessions or by sent in video feedback (Shodan will be in Person). This can be on a pass/fail view or written detailed feedback on how to improve. Your choice.

Learning with our standardized Ninjutsu system helps you understand where you are in the learning process of the Ninjutsu teachings. You will know why you are a at a certain level and exactly what you need to do to reach the next level. All ranking forms and testing requirements are in the IBDA Shodan no Maki Training Manual and in the Ninja Vault. Note: if you plan on testing with us you must be a current paid member of IBDA. 

Please note that although there are other Ninjutsu teachers who like to go around and rank other teacher’s students after only seeing them briefly for one time, we will NOT rank another teacher’s student. We feel that this is wrong and that a good, long term teacher- student relationship is very important for a student’s growth in the arts.

While we have a standardized learning rank system we encourage you to study everything you want to add to it whenever you want to or with whomever that you want to. Our goal is for you to be your very best and for the ranks that you earn from us to actually mean something. You will feel proud to wear that belt because you know you earned it.

Our IBDA mission is to provide students and new Buyu friends worldwide with the best knowledge of Ninjutsu / Budo Taijutsu possible directly as it has been taught by Soke Hatsumi through Doshi Richard Van Donk. We offer a solid Ninjutsu standard that you can trust and be proud of. Your rank will have meaning and you will know why you earned it as your rank will be a true measurement of learned knowledge.

IBDA is committed to offering the most comprehensive Ninjutsu and Budo Taijutsu training available on the planet!

We start by getting students into the Bujinkan training as a new life path. Everyone starts at 9th kyu and works their way to mastership. Each person decides for themselves the level and dedication of their journey, but our goal is to bring you all the way.

Our first goal is to bring a student to Shodan (1st degree Black belt) through which they learn a very solid overview of the entire Bujinkan teachings. You will learn Ninjutsu just as Doshi Richard Van Donk learned from Soke Hatsumi. 

Our next goal for you is to then train to be a Shidoshi (teacher of the Warrior Ways of Enlightenment) where they learn Budo Taijutsu wazas school by school, and go through a ‘How To Teach Martial Arts’ course.

At this point we know they are qualified to teach and so we then we help them to get a successful training group or full time dojo started.

From here we can guide them into becoming a Shihan (role model for others) with teachings all the way to Judan.

Doshi Richard Van Donk, was one of the first to be promoted to Godan, Judan and Jugodan Menkyo levels, get the Fighting Spirit, Golden Dragon Medal, ShinGiTaiIchi, and DaiShihan Awards is very committed to teaching teachers and to empowering every person he meets to be the very best human being they can be. Watch out for him though – he’s a ninja with an ulterior motive! He truly wants to help you to keep going, to never stop improving yourself and to keep encouraging you to be a living example for others to follow – but his hidden agenda is that by doing this he’s hoping to help make this world a better place for us all to live!
